Willamette Valley Moving - Reviews

This was one of the best experiences we've ever had with a moving company.  They showed up on time, were very friendly and polite, they protected all of the floors and door ways and were some of the hardest working guys I've ever seen.  We hired 3 people since we lived at the bottom of about 4 flights of stairs with no elevator.  They were a lot quicker than we expected them to be.  I've had bad experiences in the past with moving companies - charging per step from the truck to the door,  purposely over-using packing materials so they can charge more for them, charging mileage from place to place, charging for more time than it actually took.  Willamette did none of these things and they were a pleasure to work with.  I would absolutely use this company again and I'd recommend them to anyone moving.  I can't say enough good things about them!  Thanks guys!

This review is a long time coming. We moved to our apartment about two years ago and I was 9 months pregnant at the time so we made the choice to use movers. We were really nervous because we've heard horror stories about movers from friends. However, we hit the jackpot! Mike and Earl were our movers and they packed everything up and got it unloaded in two hours flat! My husband and I were so dumbfounded by how awesome these movers are! Just like other reviewers said, they really booked it and never let up the pace. Not only that, but they were friendly, they actually showed up a few minutes early and introduced themselves. Great customer service!
Now, we're about to move again, to our new house....and yes, we're going to hire Willamette Valley Moving. I recommend them to everyone I know that is moving and definitely recommend them if you're considering using movers. It's some of the best money we ever spent and we'll never go back to moving our own stuff again.
Pros: friendly, fast, good price, pack things perfectly, no damage
Cons: none

Efficient, friendly, awesome.

I recently moved from NW to SE in Portland. I hired Willamette Valley Movers to do the big stuff. They quoted me at 3 to 4 hours, but they actually took less than 2. Dave and Earl arrived right on time, introduced themselves, and got right to work. I could not believe how fast and efficient they were.
For me, because I was moving from a one bedroom to another one bedroom just across town, the hourly rate was the way to go. They did not move slowly at all or take breaks.
Moving all of that stuff with the help of friends would have taken all day and would have been a pain. Hiring Willamette Valley Movers was well worth the money.
Pros: worked extremely fast, took care of my furniture, friendly
Cons: none

We had two guys from Willamette Valley Moving company, Charles and Dustin, who helped us move last January. I just want to say that they were awesome! My husband was hesitant at first to hire movers, but was very pleasantly surprised at how good it turned out. Charles and Dustin were excellent. They were very efficient, friendly and professional. They even arrived early. Very impressive service. I would totally recommend this company to my friends and family.
Pros: Efficient, professional and friendly

This is such a fantastic moving company.  I never thought I would be compelled to tell everyone I know about them.  We have used them twice now, and both experiences have been so good that I realize we will never move ourselves again.  Their prices are very reasonable (and upfront!), and they are courteous, clean, friendly, fast, and efficient.  I don't have anything but positive things to say about them.  They moved a beast (300 pounds?) of a dining table twice successfully.  They accidentally damaged our dresser (which was not a piece of fine furniture), and they took care of it beautifully.  They had reported it to the owner, then I called him two days later, told him how much I had found a new one for, and he put a check in the mail the next day.  They were so apologetic because they so rarely have that happen, but they made our move so good that we were laughing about it.  They also moved my piano well both times, and that is impressive.  Seriously, best moving company ever.

Once upon a time, in a land 7 miles away, a gal was recovering from several months of travel and very long work weeks.  She'd been trying to buy a little house for these same 5 months, and finally, Escrow Day was here!  Hurrah!

Having a month to move out of the old apartment and into the house, our new home owner wasn't worried, and spent the first week fixing the house up with only light packing here and there.  No pressure.  Double hurrah!

Then an e-mail arrived from The Parents.. and by the way, they'd be in town in just over a week to see the place.  Change of plans!  No hurrah!

On Sunday, with but a few days of warning, two fine folks from Willamette Valley Moving showed up to find a good friend and I speed-packing for their arrival.  Barely and briefly daunted, they got right to work with the suggestion that they move "everything they could" and leave the rest for another weekend.

These guys went ABOVE AND BEYOND to get whatever they could into the truck.  Along the way, they joked along with us and made suggestions as we were discussing the house.  It wasn't too long before my embarrassment over the situation gave in to productivity, and I comfortably dodged movers and equipment til we were done.

I'd call them again in a heartbeat!  ...But I'm kinda hoping this is my last move for a while.

Professional, fast, friendly, and reasonable prices.
The two guys arrived in their truck, got out, introduced themselves and switched into turbo mode. Seriously. They were running up and down the stairs and around my house wrapping, lifting, and carrying things out to the truck. They continued this pace for almost the entire four hours it took to move my belongings from Oregon City to Portland. The guys only took one 5 minute break, and BAM they were back making speedy progress of getting my boxes in the house. I hope that I do not have to endure the process of a move again any time soon but if I do I most assuredly will be calling Willamette Valley Movers!

These movers were available on short notice, when I had to change the day of my move.  They arrived early, and while there was some confusion about not having a permit to park in busy NW Portland, they did try to discount my fee for the time they spent reparking the truck a few times.  When they found that we were going to be late for the cable installer, they made sure the cable equipment was at the door of the truck, and brought it inside first.

There was some confusion about the instructions I had, that needed to be followed since I was moving into a very small apartment and needed to not be lifting anything myself, but it's possible I was either not clear enough, or that it was unrealistic to stage the order of the load and unload in the way that would be most efficient for bringing items into the apartment.

They did take a lot of care that my furniture not get scratched, even though it was cheap IKEA and not fine antiques, and were persistent in getting two very large wardrobes in without having to take them apart.

It seems a stack of boxes fell over, and they mixed some things up while trying to remedy that, but the younger employee made sure to tell me it had happened before they left.

When I found breakage after my move, and felt that a lot more time had been lost than what they discounted me for, the manager was very responsive:  He called right away, he asked questions about what had not gone well, he discussed my opinions with his workers, and he arranged a suitable refund.

Overall, I would recommend them to other people who are moving, and would use this company myself next time I move, now that I know more about how they work (this was the first time I've dealt with needing a permit from the city to move, or with damage -- so I didn't know what procedures *I* needed to follow to cooperate with them).

I've worked in customer service for years and understand that sometimes, everyone just has a bad day where too many challenges occur at the same time.  The fact that the company was so responsive to my concerns and issued an appropriate refund tells me this is a company who prides themselves in good service, and will go to any lengths necessary, even for damage discovered awhile later, to make sure the customer is content.

It's still a 4-star... but closer to the 5 - we got Jason and Jack this time, and they were WAY better. More professional - no need for a dolly, and they were in and out faster than I could blind. Okay, not that fast, but fast.

The guys that moved us the first time were close to the 2-hour marker, whereas I had to make up stuff for the second set of guys to move so that they would stick around for an hour and a half. Fast, professional, and friendly. Can't ask for much more.

I never thought I would be able to write anything good about movers after what it took to get us to Portland but these guys are great! Their prices and policies are laid out on the website so no concerns about what was promised etc. They showed up early, were super polite, well prepared, and finished the job in half the time we expected. They took good care of our furniture and as far as I can tell nothing was broken. 180 degrees from the people who moved us here. I would recommend them to anyone and would use only them again if we moved (which we'd better not because I'm sick of it!).

Just take the pain out of moving and hire these guys. They are fast clean and efficient (very respectful of your property). Brian, Michael and Justin rock and are as good as it gets. Had a desk (real old school) that was heavy as all get out. They took it up my stair case (which was a switch back, never marred the wall and they placed it perfectly. They were on time and finish ahead of time bid. We were dreading this move, but I have to say the total experience was a joy.
